Big Poppa E

BPE

Big Poppa E – This guy (IMHO) is great! He’s a slam poet with some pretty good stuff. Some of his stuff is comedic, some serious, some strange.

This is the guy that was fired from Apple after performing one of his poems at their annual talent show!

His site has a bunch of free MP3s and QT movies of performances. His Wussy Boy Manifesto is classic! (Oh! Canadian FedEx Lady is the one that got him fired though…)

Check him out here:

“During an annual symposium, Marine gunners decided an improvement was needed over the old M203 one-shot launchers that mount under their M4 or M16 rifles. The M-32 won out, and each Marine battalion will field them as an experimental weapon.

blog! – the book

Blog!: How the Newest Media Revolution is Changing Politics, Business, and Culture

I’ve been reading this book since yesterday and it’s been really good so far. There is a brief intro on the history of blogging, but then the book is a compilation of interviews with some of the most popular and influential bloggers of all time. Scoble (including his Corporate Weblog Manifesto), Wil Wheaton, Adam Curry, and many others. I’m not too far into the book, but each interview so far is 3-4 pages, so it’s easy to read just a few pages if you don’t have the time to read the entire chapter or section.

There is a lot of great info on the # of blogs being visited and a real look into how blogging is changing the way people obtain and distribute information on the net. (example: for coverage about the 2004 election, 7 million reader visited DailyKos for their news compared to 5.7 million for FoxNews online.) Worth checking to see if your library carries it!

In2TV plays your old TV faves for free

16 03 2006

 in2tv

“Here’s how it works. AOL and Warner Bros. have teamed up to bring you literally hundreds of episodes of TV shows online. Dramas, comedies, thrillers, even animated series. Shows and stars you grew to know and love. Shows like ‘Welcome Back, Kotter,’ ‘Growing Pains,’ ‘Wonder Woman,’ ‘La Femme Nikita,’ ‘Alice,’ ‘Kung Fu,’ ‘Babylon 5’ and more. And, we will be adding more shows and video clips in the near future, including more recent programs and other TV-related content that you can’t find anywhere else on the web.” – from the In2TV page

I’ve been watching Wonder Woman and, even in full screen, the quality is still pretty watchable.

Note: only plays on MediaPlayer 10!

Deal of the Week @ Goodwill

16 03 2006

Today I found a real prize at my local Goodwill. A working Atari 2600 with a load of extras!

First was the TELE-GAMES CENTER box that everything is stored in which has the same cool woodgrain look and a smoked plastic cover. Inside were 2 standard joysticks, 2 paddle controllers, 2 keyboard controllers (which I never used before), a fancy “Pointmaster” joystick, the “TV/ Computer” switch box, controller extender cable (Rock on!) and the power supply. Upon powering the unit up, I has some issues with the video, but I followed the cleaning directions I found here (they also have a downloadable service manual for the 2600 and 5200) and it works just great!

The games I got with it are: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, PITFALL!, Combat, Warlords, Breakaway IV, Target Fun, Space Invaders, KABOOM!, Concentration , and Codebreaker. They all seem to work, but I’m looking for a few games that I really enjoyed as a kid like Frogs and Flies, Adventure, Defender, and Missle Command. (If anyone happens to find old games around the house and wants to donate them to me, let me know!)

And the best part is…it was $5.99 and the money supports a good cause!

Flickr Leech Rocks!

10 03 2006

Ok, I admit it. I’m a people-watcher. I like to sit at the mall or airport or park and just watch people. I read blogs, watch webcams and browse Flickr photostreams. Other peoples lives are fascinating to me for some reason and my wife has come to understand.

I ran across a cool site today that displays the day’s most interesting photos on Flickr! It displays a group of phots based on “interestingness”, username, userID, photoset, or group pool. Just by selecting “interestingness” it displays a days worth of cool photos, all linked to their own personal photosets. I browse for cool photos and open them in new tabs so I can explore them separately later! Huge time-killer for me!
